The new Gigaset HC450 intercom offers benefits to residents of single-family,duplex homes and small home offices, as it allows them to speak to visitors using their cordless phone from anywhere within the building. Running to answer the front door is now a thing of the past, by simply pressing a button on a Gigaset cordless phone (Gigaset SL560, Gigaset SL370, Gigaset SL780) the door can be opened.

The DECT wireless standard ensures a secure and stable connection to the intercom in the same way as it does to all cordless phones in the home. The intercom is easy to install as it does not require any re-wiring. The Gigaset HC450 is connected to an existing power line (two-core). Automatic door openers can also be connected to the system. The user then registers the intercom with the telephone base in the same way that they would an additional Gigaset handset.

Use of the DECT wireless standard ensure the same type of secure and stable connection between the base and the intercom that is enjoyed by all cordless phones in the home. When the door bell rings, the Gigaset cordless phone indicates this with a specific tone that is different to the sound heard before normal phone calls and shows doorbell on the display.

Intercom users can speak with or open the door to callers at the touch of a button. If no one is home, the call can be forwarded to a mobile or fixed line phone. A spoken message then indicates that the call is from a visitor standing at the front door. The user can decide if they want to answer the front door by pressing a button. This means users have the choice of whether or not to speak to visitors at the door.
